Important update: From 1st June 2022, there's a limit of 550 people on the island at any one time so you'll need to get a licence and pay for a pass from the ICNF website .

The Berlengas is a small islands Portugal archipelago of granite islands lying west of Cabo Carvoeiro - Peniche. It has been considered a protected area since 1465 when King Afonso V prohibited any action against nature in that place. Since 2011, it has been declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
